Eye Has Not Seen...Ear Has Not Heard...

Check out these verses in 1 Corinthians 2:6-9,  "Yet we do speak wisdom among those who are mature; a wisdom, however, not of this age, nor of the rulers of this age, who are passing away; but we speak God's wisdom in a mystery, the hidden wisdom, which God predestined before the ages to our glory; the wisdom which none of the rulers of this age has understood; for if they had understood it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory; but just as it is written, Things which eye has not seen and ear has not heard, and which have not entered the heart of man, all that God has prepared for those who love Him."

So we understand that when we speak the truth of God to a lost person, they have trouble with it; with understanding all of it, for it is a mystery, indeed "hidden wisdom" to those who hear these words without the holy spirit within to interpret.  So it is not shocking to hear Paul say that "if they had understood it, they would NOT have crucified the Lord of glory..."

Testifying to the truth of God is sometimes difficult.  Verse 14 says, "But a natural man does not accept the things of the Spirit of God; for they are foolishness to him, and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually appraised."  Of course, the Bible is a difficult book, however, it IS understandable.  Verse 15 & 16 go on to say, "But he who is spiritual appraises all things, yet he himself is appraised by no man.  For who has known the mind of the Lord, that he should instruct Him?  But we have the mind of Christ."  So we ARE appraised of the truth and fully understand God's promise that "Things which eye has not seen and ear has not heard...All that God has prepared for those who love Him."

So in reading this, I would submit to you that sometimes a person requires more than a normal level or amount of witness of Christ in order to understand.  As we see through the eyes of Paul, let the Holy Spirit be your guide as to how many times you attempt to share the truth of God to a lost person.  I've watched people "run" from me at the mere mention of Christ, and I have watched people fall to their knees, completely understanding that they have no future apart from Christ.

God is on His throne and He is calling on us to share the "wisdom" given my His Holy Spirit, to lead a "harvest" toward His throne of grace.  Don't you really, really, really want to be a part of that?  I know I do.  No eyes have seen and no ears have heard all that God has prepared for those of us who love Him!

What an outstanding promise from our Savior!

Dave
